In our new logo, the tree, the color green and the strength of the font represent the rural community. The tree bends and curves. This signifies our differences and imperfections as people, yet the ability to stand strong in trying times. I believe every one of us experience times where we either need emotional or financial support and REACH wants to assist people from all segments of our rural population during these times.
We are a nonprofit organization located in the heart of rural communities, and we serve the rural people who live in Clay, Norman and Becker counties. I challenge you to find an agency in such a small community with the extensive services that we provide, anywhere in the country.
Changes for REACH began long before I came along. In 1991, we started as a small counseling center to one that provides our impressive REACH Reusables Thrift Store, Dress for Success® program, Family Support program which assists local families with basic needs such as food from our food pantry, clothing, shelter and the newly titled “REACH OUT” educational programs which we plan to expand by providing information to the public on topics such as Alzheimer’s Disease, hospice care and teen substance abuse.
I am fortunate to be a member of a team that has the courage to change with the times and use their creative energy to find ways to assist our clients in traditional and in new ways. Our hope is to “reach” more people in different segments of our population. We will be expanding services to the elderly and children in particular.
Obviously our small but fearless team along with our board of directors cannot do this alone. Our volunteer corps is precious to us like gold. Our local business, counties, townships, churches, foundations and generous individuals literally provide gold to us. We need them in these economic times and appreciate their generosity. We are committed to finding ways to do more in a more efficient manner. The support we get from these people was the inspiration for our new tag line “Small communities, big hearts.”
Change is in the air. Follow us on our website and watch us grow. We invite you to be a part of what we do by utilizing our services, attending our events, volunteering or by your financial donations. The one thing that will not change is the commitment to our mission:
“To enrich the quality of life for rural residents by providing affordable human services through collaboration with others.”
